SUMMARY

To maintain a clean and effective warehouse through training and communication. To lead an operations team balanced across three operational principles (Safety, Quality & Productivity).  This role will require oversight and strategic planning to handle the numerous functions of the warehouse team.  The warehouse team is a support to our production teams, partner with our logistics and purchasing teams and is key to our ability to service the customer.  This role requires a dynamic person who can influence results across a 24/7 operation and multiple levels of our organization.  Main functions include shipping, receiving, material supply planning, staging of materials, storage planning, item picking, line loading, and order fulfillment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  • Maintain on time shipment rates for a plant that averages close to 9MM lbs. per week
  • Support the supply chain by recognizing that the warehouse is critical to the success for both up-stream and downstream functions across our supply chain
  • Build a team and retain talent in a challenging labor market
  • Build leadership bench strength with-in the department
  • Responsible for the performance of team members and all KPI’s associated with the warehouse department o Examples of some key KPI’s – 
    • Load rate, picking rate, balance of work across teams (line, load and pick)
    • Overtime balance, staffing rates, temporary usage
    • Wastes, lbs. shipped/man hr.
  • Responsible for the 3rd party maintenance programs on warehouse assets (fork trucks, battery’s, floor scrubbers and lifts)
  • Responsible to work with our vendors to manage trash disposals, recycling, pallet quality and availability
  • Minimize damage and unsecured product
  • Ensure a clean environment that complies with all GMP standards
  • Maintain a safe work environment and support all safety culture improvement activities
  • Commitment to safety begins with management. Managers and frontline supervisors are accountable for creating and maintaining a culture of Safety and assuring a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

 

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Ensure all Team Members in the department are responsible for the following:

  1. Ship product free of contamination
  2. Follow all Ken’s Foods Security and GMP policies
  3. Be a leader in Food Defense for the site
  4. Inspect work area for any possible product contamination issues on a continuous basis
  5. Report any leaking or spilled product immediately
  6. Inspect all incoming and outgoing loads for signs of product contamination

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manages directly exempt level team leaders and indirectly manages non-exempt employees in the warehouse.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups within the organization. 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
