General Labor IN - 2nd Shift Packaging
SUMMARY
The General Laborer will assist in various physical tasks in a fast-paced environment. The role requires the ability to work efficiently and safely. They will assist the designated machine operator or production team in a variety of functions including but not limited to cup loading, case making, manual case-packing, palletizing of product, banding and wrapping of pallets, cleaning and other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Operate manual and semi-automatic packaging equipment in a safe and timely manner
- Ensures compliance with corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety, food safety culture, quality and facility cleanliness
- Participate in machine and area cleaning in a safe and timely manner
- Locate and retrieve materials
- Load packaging materials into machine
- Pack and handle finished goods
- Apply labels to finished good pallets
- Operate manual pallet jack and electric pallet stacker
- General housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to work with chemicals and cleaning products
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Producing products free of contamination
- Following all Ken’s Foods Security and GMP policies
- Reporting any suspicious activities anywhere in or around the plant
- Inspection of work area for any possible product contamination issues on a continuous basis
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
