R&D Senior Regulatory Manager

SUMMARY
The Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs will lead the regulatory compliance and labeling function, ensuring that Ken’s Foods’ products comply with all applicable regulations, laws, and standards in the markets where they are sold. This position requires strong regulatory knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. This person serves as the internal expert for food regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Ensure that the company's products are in full compliance with laws and regulations in the countries where they are sold.
- Lead the design and execution of labeling and packaging graphics. Ensure that all visual elements align with legal requirements, branding strategies, and are consistent across different product lines.
- Manage the set-up and approval of ingredients, formulas and labeling specifications using Ken’s formula management system (DevEx).
- Advise internal teams (R&D, Marketing, Quality) on regulatory requirements for new products or updates to existing products.
- Identifies and provides resolution to strategic and tactical regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling.
- Engages with external trade associations and other professional organizations regarding regulatory and legislative issues impacting the Company or industry at large.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regulatory affairs and labeling team, ensuring efficient operations and compliance.
- Stay updated on global regulatory trends, guidelines, and legislative changes affecting the industry.
- Provide insights to senior management regarding regulatory trends and ensure the company adapts proactively to regulatory changes.
- Commitment to safety begins with management. Managers and frontline supervisors are accountable for creating and maintaining a culture of Safety and assuring a safe work environment.
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
The job is responsible for label content, including allergens.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Research and Development Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong experience developing packaging artwork for NFP content, claims, and labeling requirements for food products.
- Strong knowledge of FDA food labeling regulations and general knowledge of the regulatory landscape that may affect the food industry. Knowledge of international regulations a plus.
- Established strategic mindset.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written), interpersonal, and computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft, formula management programs (e.g., DevEx), and system automation tools.
- Well organized while managing multiple projects simultaneously and leading small groups to deliver projects.
- Self-motivated and proactive in staying informed of changes in regulations and industry trends.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
Education and/or Experience
B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a related field, Masters preferred or prior experience.
Experience: 7-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the food industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position
